Moving Boxes’ exterior combines details from both my Hong Kong and Canadian homes, with the interior containing a collection of closed and opened boxes. The boxes and items represent important groups, hobbies, and communities that influenced me.

I chose boxes as a recurring motif in my work as they represent the passage of time and memory. When you put something in a box, you could either be storing something away that you no longer have a use for or simply packaging it up to be moved elsewhere. Items we choose to put inside boxes instead of just throwing out carry importance. The cultural influences, hobbies, and communities I have been a part of through the years, whether I remember them or not, merge into one and shape who I am today.
